Old Forester 1897 Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
Balancing Act
This bourbon has a mashbill of 72 percent corn, 18 percent rye and 10 percent malted barley. Part of the Old Forester Whisky Row series which also includes 1870, 1910 and 1920. The 1897 celebrates the year of the Bottled-In-Bond Act which introduced quality controls to the industry. We love that you can always find Old Forester and they produce a consistent, quality product at a reasonable price point. There’s not much on the nose with the exception of knowing it is high-proof and quality. However, the flavor is extremely well-balanced with the sweetness of vanilla, the spiciness from the rye and the bitterness from the charred oak coming through beautifully. Nuttiness, tobacco, smoke. Lingering finish with vanilla and spice. Such a classic, well-crafted bourbon.
