Ardbeg An Oa Islay Scotch
Brine Tea
Islays are our preferred Scotch, so much so, that we even named our daughter Islay! Islay is a small island with only 8 distilleries; however, they are an entire Scotch region due to their unique flavor profile. The whiskies are very peaty due to smoking the barley with the plenteous amounts of peat found on the island. The nose of the Ardbeg An Oa is heavy on the peat. Brine and banana is also noticeable. Other flavors open up on the palate such as brine, citrus and tea. The finish isn’t long but there’s the lingering smokiness as well as a slight bitterness.
