Day 19

RedBreast 12 Cask Strength Delicate Punch in the Mouth Another delicate, well-balanced Irish whiskey. Fruit and vanilla on the nose. This continues on the palate with the addition of citrus and shortbread. Slight spice. Slight bitterness. Very oily with a long, pleasant finish.

Day 18

Barrell Whiskey Private Release BH01 “Barrell” of Flavor, hehe Barrell is one of our absolute favorite purveyors of whiskey! We’ve yet to try a Barrell we don’t like…and believe me, we have SEVERAL bottles. At this time, they do not distill their own product but source whiskey primarily from Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana.

Day 17

Springbank 10 Musty Funk is Back! There are currently only three active distilleries in Campbeltown (Springbank, Glengoyle and Glen Scotia) although at one time there were more than 30. Springbank Distillery produces three brands: Springbank, Hazelburn, Longrow. J & A Mitchell and Co Ltd also own (more recently) the Glengoyle distillery which produces Kilkerran Single Malt.

Day 16

Calumet Farm Single Rack Black Bourbon Horses & Leather What’s more Kentucky than bourbon and horse-racing? Calumet Farm has married the two. With a lengthy history of horse-racing, they relatively recently started sourcing whiskey. We’ve discussed single barrel whiskey already but this Single Rack Black expression is 19 bottles chosen from one rickhouse rack.

Day 15

Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey Rocky Mountain Single Malt Blake LOVES American Single Malts! They are essentially the American version of Scotch as they use 100% malted barley. This distillery out of Denver produces a few varieties of ASM. Definite cereal (barley) on the nose with a hint of banana and toffee, coffee and milk chocolate.
